‘Don’t Enter Marriage Based on Fanfare Associated with Weddings’
A Eucharistic Minister with the Corpus Christi Parish at Krofrom in the Kumasi Archdiocese has advised the youth not to be lured by the fanfare associated with weddings to enter into marriage.
Martin Kwadwo Arhen, who is also a Marriage Counsellor, said the institution called marriage was a serious one and should be approached with all seriousness and preparedness.
He advised would-be couples to take their time to investigate the backgrounds of their partners as marriage could either make or break you.
Mr. Arhen gave the advice recently when he together with his wife, Mrs Gladys Arhen, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a Thanksgiving Mass.
He asked couples to put Christ at the centre of their marriages and to always rely on Him in all instances. “The foundation of every successful marriage is commitment, determination, love and sacrifice, there are ups and downs in the journey of marriage, you should be able to ignore peer pressure and stay away from certain things you do for pleasure,” he said.
He underscored the important role money plays in marriage and while admitting that though money does not necessarily make marriage succeed, “it is very important that couples have a regular source of income to keep the home running.”
The couple is blessed with three children, two girls: Hannah and Perpetual and a boy: Rev Fr Francis Amofa-Gyamfi Arhen.
