Ho Diocese Climaxes Holy Childhood Week

Children in the Ho Diocese recently climaxed the 2024 Pontifical Missionary Societies (PMS) – Holy Childhood Week Celebration with a pilgrimage to the Grotto.

Hundreds of enthusiastic children from the three deaneries of the diocese converged under the feet of Mother Mary at the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, Kpando-Agbenorxoe adorned in their beautiful branded shirts to celebrate their day.

Accompanied by their animators, the children fully, consciously and actively participated in every aspect of the Eucharistic Celebration, which was led by the Vicar General Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Walter Agbetto, and concelebrated by a host of Priests, including the PMS National Director, Rev. Fr Isaac Ebo Bley.

The Holy Childhood choirs from the Immaculate Conception Parish, Kpando, Mater Ecclesiae School Choir, Sokode Gbogame and the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ho-Bankoe, sang during the Mass amidst beautiful choreographic cultural displays.

The Vicar General expressed excitement at the high turnout of the children, seeing it as a beacon of hope for the future of the church within the diocese. During his homily, he urged the young attendees to draw inspiration from the day’s Gospel reading (Mark 1:40-45) and emulate Jesus’ compassion towards the underprivileged, particularly the leper. Furthermore, he encouraged their animators to diligently nurture the children, ensuring they are firmly rooted in the Catholic faith.

The National PMS Director emphasized the importance of involving young individuals in church activities, advocating for their inclusion in decision-making processes at the pastoral council levels.

Following the Holy Mass, the children proceeded to the feet of Mary on the mountaintop, where they were formally dedicated to the intercession of the Holy Mother.
