Palmer Buckle to Represent Ghana in October Synod

Pope Francis has confirmed the participation of Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, Archbishop of Accra’s participation in the 14th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops at the Vatican from October 4 to 25 2015.

According to the Vatican information Service (VIS) Archbishop Palmer-Buckle substitutes Most Rev. Anthony Adanuty, Vice President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference and Bishop of Keta-Akatsi.

The Holy Father ratified the appointment of some Prelates as members and substitutes for the Synod, elected by their respective Episcopal Conferences.
The Synod is on the theme: The vocation and mission of the family in the Church and in the contemporary world.

From other African countries that ratification was made include Burundi which will be represented by Bishop Gervais Bashimiyubusa, of Ngozi, President of the Episcopal Conference; Ethiopia and Eritrea by Bishop Tsegaye Keneni Derera, Apostolic Vicar of Soddo, Ethiopia;

Kenya will be represented by Cardinal John Njue, Archbishop of Nairobi, President of the Episcopal Conference and Bishop James Maria Wainaina Kungu of Muranga.
Bishop Desire Tsarahazana of Toamasina, President of the Episcopal Conference will represent Madagascar; while Rwanda will be represented by Bishop Antoine Kambanda of Kibungo.
