St. Bernadette School Marks 46 Years of Academic and Moral Excellence

Dansoman, Accra – July 5, 2025 — St. Bernadette Soubirous School celebrated a significant milestone on Saturday as it held its 2025 Graduation Ceremony, marking 46 years of delivering holistic Catholic education anchored on discipline, hard work, and moral integrity.

The vibrant ceremony, themed: 46 Years of Raising Future Leaders – Instilling Hard Work, Assertiveness, Discipline, and Moral Integrity through Catholic Principles, drew a distinguished gathering of educators, parents, alumni, clergy, and friends of the school community. It was interspersed with cultural and musical performances, showcasing students’ creativity and confidence.

Delivering the Keynote Address was Mr. Kobby Asmah, a veteran journalist and immediate past Editor-in-Chief of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd. He is also a proud parent of one of the graduates, Ohemaa Abena Asmah, and a long-time supporter of the school.

Speaking with warmth and conviction, Mr. Asmah reflected on the school’s unwavering commitment to raising future leaders. “St. Bernadette has weathered many challenges, keeping pace with evolving educational standards while never losing sight of its core values,” he said. “This school doesn’t just educate minds; it nurtures character.”

He urged the graduates to boldly write their life stories, guided by curiosity, consistency, and integrity. Drawing from his journalism career, he shared how his early days “armed only with a notepad, pen, and a passion for truth” shaped both his profession and his personal values.

The school’s Headmistress, in her spirited address, urged graduates to carry forward the values of discipline and purpose. Quoting Jim Rohn and Nelson Mandela, she reminded them that discipline is the foundation of success and that setbacks should be viewed as stepping stones. “Be intentional and mindful of every association you make and every activity you engage in,” she advised, warning of social media pitfalls while highlighting its educational potential.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries including Mrs. Judith Amoateng Ennin, Regional Manager of the Catholic Education Unit of Accra; Mr. Abraham Laryea, Local Manager; and Rev. Fr. Dr. John Duah Prempeh, immediate past Chairman of the School Management Board.

Certificates and awards were presented to pupils in recognition of both academic and extracurricular excellence. The Headmistress expressed gratitude to teachers, parents, and stakeholders for their unwavering support, and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to quality, inclusive education.

As the graduates prepare for Senior High School, Mr. Asmah left them with words that resonated deeply:

“Chase your dreams with all your heart. You’ve made us proud already. Now go and make yourselves proud, too. Congratulations, Class of 2025. The future is yours to write.”
