Archbishop Naameh eulogizes Dr. Abdulai
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, Most Rev. Philip Naameh, has eulogized Dr. David Abdulai, the late Medical Philanthropist, for his humanitarian works, saying that he was inspired by the resurrection message of Christ.
The Archbishop said this at a Mass preceding a picnic at the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at the Sixth Battalion of Infantry, Kamina Barracks in Tamale.
Themed: The Resurrection, care for others and the environment, the annual picnic which is hosted in rotation among Parishes in the Archdiocese, was hosted by the Ss. Peter and Paul Parish and in honour of Dr. Abdulai.
Archbishop Naameh stated that like most Ghanaians, Dr. Abdulai who came from a poor home caught the eyes of Catholic Missionaries who supported his education and when he became a Doctor, he did not seek to enrich himself by saying “providence has brought me here”.
Having thought about his past, he resigned from his pristine position as a Director in the Ghana Health Service to sacrifice for the benefit of others and living thereafter entirely on charity.
He said that Dr. Abdulai lived an exemplary life, focusing on those who were helpless like lunatics, thus bringing a measure of dignity to them while ministering to them until he died.
The Chairman of the Archdiocesan Laity Council, Prof. Elias Sowley, launched a programme to raise GH¢50,000 to support the humanitarian ministry and legacy of the late Medical Philanthropist who founded the Shekhinah Clinic in Tamale.
Since its establishment 25 years ago, the Clinic had been offering free medical care and feeding of HIV/AIDS patients, destitudes and the mentally challenged roaming the streets of Tamale. But the health facility is said to be facing some challenges since the demise of the famed Doctor, on October 2, 2016.
