Fr. Senanu launches Book
A large number of Catholics recently witnessed the launch of The Sun at Midnight, an inspirational Book written by Rev. Fr. Derrick Eyram Senanu of the Koforidua Diocese at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra.
The ceremony chaired by Mr. Michael Ofosu, Deputy Head of Foreign Banking Operations at GN Bank, was attended by Priests and Religious, families and friends of Fr. Senanu and well-wishers.
Most Rev. Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi, who was the Guest of Honour, described the 124-page Book as simple with outstanding content, and recommended it to the general public
He lauded the Author for taking the initiative to support St. Peter’s Regional Seminary Pedu, Cape Coast, with some of the proceeds to be accrued from the sale of the Book.
He noted that reading the Book and imbibing its spirit would profit many immensely “whether a student, teacher, Catholic or non-Catholic, Priest or a layman, Religious or a non-Religious, a believer or a non-believer , young or adult, a seminarian or a Priest, a Bishop or a Mass server.”
Mr. Ofosu expressed appreciation to the Author for writing the Book and encouraged the reading public to own copies.
Narrating what inspired him to write the Book, Fr. Senanu said he was traumatized by a penalty kick missed by Captain of the Senior National Soccer Team, the Black Stars during the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa.
He said that was a crucial and a painful moment for him and it was after that experience that he decided to write to serve as a consoling material for all persons who might be going through trying moments in life.
Chapter One of the Book focuses on the life of Jesus Christ in what he terms “the cry of the forsaken”. The Second Chapter tells a story of the fear of the unknown with Abraham as the character in the spotlight. The rest of the chapters captured the lives of Joseph, Saul, David, Mary and the latter day Apostle Paul.
In the concluding part of the Book, Fr. Senanu writes that “the challenges of life and the pains associated with it have no syllables. Suffering and hardship have no curriculum and they do not follow any particular pattern of operation. No one is therefore exempted from; old or young, rich or poor, native or foreigner, outcast or pure blood, believer or non-believer.”
Fr. Senanu holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Study of Religions from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology Degree from the Pontifical Urbanian University, Rome.
