Cadets, Junior Auxiliaries hold Jamboree
Cadets and Junior Auxiliaries of the Kumasi Grand Commandery of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI), and Ladies Auxiliary recently held their maiden Grand Cadets Jamboree at the St. James Seminary/Senior High School at Abesim near Sunyani.
The Jamboree themed: The Role of the Cadets and the Junior Auxiliaries in the Jubilee Year of Mercy, was attended by members from Kumasi, Konongo-Mampong, Obuasi, Goaso, Techiman and Sunyani Dioceses.
In a welcome address at the opening ceremony, the Vice Rector of the Seminary, Rev. Fr. Hubert Asante Kumi, expressed the hope that the programme would help address some pertinent issues pertaining to the youth and the Catholic faith.
The former Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Justice Samuel Adjei, said the Cadets have an onerous responsibility to defend the faith and be good ambassadors of the Church.
The Grand President of the Kumasi Grand Commandery, Dr. Anthony Adusei, said that the Cadets and the Junior Auxiliaries were the future of the Noble Order and urged members to study and be abreast with the tenets of the Order.
Delivering the Keynote Address, the Bishop of Sunyani Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, advised the participants to pray the Rosary, study the Bible, attend Mass and adhere to the teachings of the Church.
He called on them to aspire to join Religious Congregations and Priesthood, entreating them to keep their surroundings, communities, houses and schools clean, be honest, truthful and hardworking.
The newly-elected Grand Cadet President was Ernest Kyei Frimpong with Emilia Osei Tutu as the Respected Grand President for the Junior Auxiliaries in the Kumasi Grand.
The Chairman for the programme, Mr. Sam Bennett commended organisers for a successful Jamboree.
At a thanksgiving Mass to climax the Jamboree, Rev. Fr. Stephen Obour Yeboah, advised members to remain in the Catholic faith, advising them to take their studies at school seriously.
The Cadets and the Junior Auxiliaries donated food items to the inmates of the Sunyani Central Prison.
