Businesswoman donates to Sang Orphanage
Madam Jacobel Takyi, a Businesswoman at Yendi, recently donated provisions, toiletries and an undisclosed amount of money to the Nazareth Home of God’s Children Orphanage at Sang in the Mion District of the Yendi Diocese.
Madam Takyi stated that the donation was her widow’s mite towards the upkeep of the children of the Orphanage and commended the Founder and her staff for their work and love for humanity.
Receiving the items, the Founder, Rev. Sr. Stan Terese Mumuni, expressed gratitude to Madam Takyi for the gesture, saying that the Orphanage relies solely on the benevolence of Corporate Institutions, Societies and individuals.
Narrating the history of the Orphanage, Sr. Mumuni stated that it was established in 2009 to rescue and provide shelter for children who had been condemned to death by their own families because of one form of deformity or another.
She disclosed that prior to the establishment of the Orphanage, the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, sent such children to the Mother Teresa Sisters in Kumasi and Accra.
Currently, there are 54 children in the Orphanage whose ages are between eight months and 21 years.
