Knights Build For The Future

KSJI hands over Formators’ Bungalow to Sowutuom Seminary

The Accra West Grand Commandery of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) and its Ladies’ Auxiliary have strengthened the future of the Catholic Church in Ghana with the handover of the second phase of a Formators’ Bungalow to St. Paul Catholic Seminary, Sowutuom.
The ceremony on Friday, March 6, brought together clergy, seminarians, Knights, Ladies’ Auxiliary members and Catholic faithful in a joyful celebration of faith, generosity and commitment to priestly formation.
The facility was formally received on behalf of the Church by Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, in the presence of the Rector of the Seminary, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Okine Quartey.
The project was initiated after seminary authorities identified a critical challenge: inadequate accommodation for formators, which had forced some of them to share rooms with seminarians.
Moved by their mission of charity and service, the Knights and Ladies’ Auxiliary embarked on the construction of a three-bedroom semi-detached Formators’ residence.
The first phase was completed in March 2023, and the newly completed second phase now provides additional comfortable accommodation for seminary formators.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a special citation to Brig. Gen. Sir Vincent Joseph Dela Selormey for his exceptional leadership in ensuring the completion of the project.
Church leaders praised the Knights for their commitment, describing the initiative as a powerful example of lay Catholics supporting the mission of the Church.
For the Knights, the project represents what their Order proudly stands for:
Faith in Action.
