POJOSS Celebrates 67 Years with National Homecoming

Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary (POJOSS)at Koforidua has celebrated its 67th Anniversary with a grand Speech and Prize-Giving Day, crowned by a National Homecoming of the Pope John Old Boys Association (POJOBA).
In a Keynote Address, Most Rev. Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum, Bishop of Koforidua, paid glowing tribute to the pioneering missionaries and educators whose vision laid the foundation for the school’s excellence. He praised the current leadership, staff, and the broader school community for preserving and advancing that legacy.
He expressed hope that the 67th anniversary would inspire renewed pride, commitment, and purpose in fulfilling the school’s noble mission.
The week-long celebration featured a series of events, including: Career guidance sessions, Meet-and-greet encounters, Speech and Prize-Giving Day, POJOBA Annual General Meeting (AGM), Entertainment activities, a Thanksgiving Service and a Unity Launch Dinner.
Delivering a situational report, Very Rev. Fr. Benjamin Opoku Ohene, Headmaster of POJOSS, appealed to parents and guardians to support the seamless implementation of the new curriculum. He reaffirmed his commitment to four thematic priorities: Enhancing student discipline, Strengthening staff supervision and monitoring, Deepening collaboration with parents/guardians and Expanding networking with POJOBA for institutional support
Fr. Ohene expressed sincere gratitude to POJOBA for their unwavering support and issued an urgent call to all alumni, especially those nurtured by the seminary wing, to respond to its “loud cry” for assistance.
He proudly highlighted the school’s excellent performance in the 2024 WASSCE, describing it as evidence of the school’s sustained pursuit of academic excellence. He also outlined strategies aimed at securing victory in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), including the establishment of robust academic structures and support systems.
Fr. Ohene commended the POJOBA National Executive Council (NEC) for its remarkable fundraising efforts, particularly the successful acquisition of a 30-seater bus for the NSMQ Team.
The event also served as a platform to recognise and appreciate outstanding contributions from POJOBA individuals and year groups, the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), and all stakeholders for their efforts in advancing the school’s development.
He concluded by congratulating all students and staff who were honoured for their diligence, performance, and unwavering dedication to the POJOSS cause.
