Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese Holds Youth Bible Camp

A three-day Youth Bible Camp was recently organised by the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese at the Kongo Spiritual Renewal Centre in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region for young Catholic girls and boys from various Deaneries.

The second of its kind, it was on the theme: Word Of God Source Of Hope For The Catholic Youth.  Over two hundred children attended the Camp.

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Akansagse, Coordinator of the Diocesan Biblical Apostolate in a homily, explained that the Camp was aimed at providing young Catholics with the opportunity to understand the Catholic faith, pray and learn about sacred scripture.

Mrs. Judith Amaltinga and Mr. Martin Amaltinga, a Catechist of the St. Patrick outstation at Kumbosigo, and other animators led the participants on how to compose Bible songs from the scriptures.

The youth were exposed to Catholic doctrines, the significance and meaning of images found in the Catholic Church and the difference between an idol and images or statues in the Church.

Among some of the activities carried out was a procession through the Holy Door, enthronement of the Word and Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Akansagse.

Other activities included an inter-deanery Bible Quiz competition, a workshop and an open forum facilitated by Mr.  Joel Ayeasiyinga, Mr. Michael Anaridege Aluka and other animators from the various Deaneries.
