As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the Paediatric Unit of the HopeXchange Medical Centre, has organised a free medical screening for residents of Dagomba line in the Asokore-Mampong in the Kumasi Archdiocese.
The health screening was primarily targeted at the children living in the area and some of the adults.
As part of the health screening exercise, the team also presented clothing, detergents, and toiletries to the community and packed food with water to the children who were screened.
The leader of the team, Dr. David Aboagye said from time to time, the hospital organises such outreach programmes to bridge the gap between the hospital and the community by reaching out to the marginalised to offer them free medical service.
Aside the free screening and giving out free medication, he said the hospital would also provide free treatment to those whose conditions were critical and would require further treatment at no cost to the parents.
He said the hospital chose the Dagomba line for the exercise because most of the residents were the marginalised in society and lived in conditions a bit deplorable and hardly have time to take their children to hospital.
The screening was therefore to assess the health status of the children in the community and offer them free health care.
Dr. Aboagye said the hospital does not restrict its outreach programmes to only its surrounding communities “but extends to wherever our services are needed and to the marginalised irrespective of their locations.”
