Accra Province Inter-Religious Dialogue Training Held in Koforidua
The Cohort Three – Accra Province of the Inter-Religious Dialogue Training for Religious Leaders in Ghana – organised by the Sahel Peace and Initiative (SPI), recently took place at the Koforidua Diocesan Pastoral and Training Centre (DPTC).
Participants for the training were drawn from the Accra Province of the Catholic Church, with others representing various religious and denominational bodies in the Accra Provincial territory. Rev. Fr. Dr. Cosmas Ebo Sarbah was resource person.
The training delved into inter-religious dialogue, religious tolerance, challenges of religious diversity, and the challenge of religious plurality. Other topics were neutral/equal treatment and models of inter-religions dialogue (exclusivist, inclusivist, and pluralist).
The Most Rev. Joseph Afrifah–Agyekum, Bishop of Koforidua who was a resource person, identified religious intolerance as one of the challenges that threaten the peace of the Sub-region. He commended the organisers, especially the Very Rev. Fr. Michael Quaicoe of the National Catholic Secretariat and his team, for choosing the DPTC of Koforidua Diocese as venue for the training.
The Bishop encouraged the participants to share new insights in understanding and coexistence among different religions with their religious or denominational members.
