Don’t Shy Away From the Cross

Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, the Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, has called on Catholics to be unapologetic
about expressing their faith wherever they find themselves.
Speaking on the Feast of the Holy Trinity at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Adjie-Kojo, the
Bishop called on Catholic professionals to boldly express their faith in the workplace through the sign of
the cross.
Bishop Louis recounted instances where Catholic individuals, when tasked with leading prayers in
professional environments, sometimes refrain from making the sign of the Cross, unlike their
counterparts of other faiths who proudly manifest their religious symbols.
Bishop Louis wondered why Catholics sometimes shy away from openly expressing their faith, saying
that the sign of the Cross is not merely a ritualistic gesture but a profound symbol of Catholic belief—an
emblem that should be proudly displayed regardless of the setting.
“At your workplace, they say today, Mr. Mensah, it is your turn to lead us in worship at the office,” he
remarked. “Because the non-Catholics, when it is their turn they don’t say in the name of the Father,
Son and of the Holy Spirit, you too you don’t say it,” the Bishop said.
“The sign of the Cross is a symbol of our faith, and we must not be shy to make it known wherever we
are,” Bishop Louis declared.
The Episcopal visit to the Church in Adjie-Kojo on Sunday is part of activities marking the 15th
anniversary of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
