Let us Rejoice and be Glad, for Christ is Risen! Alleluia!!

This Sunday, Christians throughout the world are celebrating the resurrection of
Jesus Christ. The most important event in the Catholic liturgical Calendar is Easter
which is celebrated after 40 days of fasting during the Lent Season and the
Triduum (the three days that Christ spent in the tomb) culminating in the glorious
resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Easter also serves as a reminder of the hope, joy, and spiritual rejuvenation that it
brings. It embodies the profound belief in the triumph of life over death, inspiring
us to reflect on the blessings of salvation and the promise of eternal life. This
Easter should, once again, remind us of the immense love and sacrifice Jesus made
for us.
Indeed, Easter offers us – Christians – a new life, a life where we become true
witnesses to the Gospel in every aspect of human activity with dignity and
responsibility.
This Easter season is also calling on us to be morally upright by putting an end to
all immoral acts including stealing, bribery and corruption, armed robbery, drug
and human trafficking, drunkenness, reckless driving, cyber fraud and other forms
of vices that are destroying our dear country.
The Catholic Standard urges all Ghanaians, particularly Christians, to reflect
soberly on issues that hinder our progress and resolve to make Ghana a better place
for all. Having achieved 67 years of nationhood, Ghanaians should see this
relatively long span of nationhood as a new beginning of one people. Currently
threatening our very existence are many social ills including that of illegal mining
(galamsey) and poor waste mismanagement.
We cannot progress if we do not love our neighbour(s), share love, peace and
mercy; do away with indiscipline, laziness, greed, insults, selfishness, envy, hatred
and bitterness. We have to be true witnesses of the teachings of our Lord and
Master – Jesus Christ.
This Paper, therefore calls on all Ghanaians to reflect on our actions and inactions
that hinder the progress of our nation and make conscious efforts to turn away
from all negative activities and do more for the common good.
In the context of these challenging times, may we keep your hearts open for signs
of hope, understanding, joy, peace and humility.

Christ preached and taught humility, justice, service, compassion, non-violence
and forgiveness and it is our hope that we will all emulate the perfect example that
Christ lived.
As we celebrate Easter, let us reflect on the profound significance of Christ’s
resurrection. May His victory over death inspire us to live with hope, courage, and
unwavering faith. May His victory over sin and death inspire us to embrace life
with faith and compassion. And may His resurrection fill our lives with renewed
hope, unwavering faith, and boundless love.
Wishing you a blessed Easter filled with peace, love, mercy, and joy of the
presence of the risen Lord. Christ is truly risen! Alleluia!
