Most Rev. Philip Naameh, Archbishop of Tamale, recently launched the 75th Anniversary celebration of Our Lady of Annunciation (OLA) Cathedral in Tamale during a Eucharistic celebration.
Themed: Walking by Faith, Not by Sight, activities for the celebration which would be climaxed in 2021, include an Open Forum, Health Talk, Spiritual Year in 2018, Family Year in 2019 and Remembrance Year in 2020.

Citing the example of the late Dr. David Abdulai, a Medical Philanthropist, who resigned as a Doctor from the Ghana Health Service to care for the despised and rejected in society such as lepers, beggars, AIDS patients and mentally-challenged people, he admonished the faithful to seek and respond appropriately to God’s will for their lives.

On the marriage vocation, he stressed the importance of on-going formation for married people saying “couples need to be guided to live by the pledges they made to one another on the Altar”.
The Cathedral Administrator, Very Rev. Fr. Carolus Magnus Gambogi, appealed to the faithful to support and celebrate with joy, the activities of the anniversary. He also outdoored a Roman Missal (Altar edition) and a Chalice with its accessories donated to the Cathedral by an Irish woman, Madam Moira Staines and Rev. Fr. Timothy Akanson, a former Curate now on pastoral assignment in the United States.
The OLA Cathedral was established by the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) in 1946 led by Frs. Remy McCoy, Tom Tryers, P. Haskew and John McNulty assisted by lay collaborators namely; Mr. D.A. Forson, Mr. Franz, J. Boafo, Mr. Allan Alhassan, Mr. R. Kabiri and others.
