‘Priests must be accountable to Parishioners’
Most Rev. Richard Kuuia Baawobr, Bishop of Wa, has advised Parish Priests to always ensure that they give statements of accounts on Church collections and other financial donations received from their Parishioners on regular basis.
He said the Parishioners who support the growth and development of the Parishes deserve to know how their contributions were disbursed, noting that transparency and accountability must be the watch words of all Priests particularly Parish Priests.
He gave the advice when Sir. Kt. Bro. Ernest Amoako-Arhen, Supreme Knight of the Knights of Marshall, paid a courtesy call on him at Wa as part of his official visit to Councils 30 and 113, both at Wa.
The Supreme Knight was accompanied by Sir Kt. Bro. Albert Salia, Supreme IT Officer and Worthy Bro. Charles Cobb, the Supreme Propagandist and some Senior Officers of the two Councils.
Bishop Baawobr acknowledged the immense contributions of the Knights of Marshall to the growth and development of the Church in the diocese and the country at large and urged them to continue with their good works.
The Supreme Knight congratulated Bishop Baawobr who was ordained in May last year on his ascension to the high office of a Bishop.
He assured the Bishop of the unflinching support of the Noble Order of the Knights of Marshall towards the growth of the Catholic Church.
Sir Kt. Amoako-Arhen noted that the support was the main reason for the existence of the Order and it would therefore not renege on its responsibilities towards the Church.
He said it was in line with this support that the Noble Order was taking the necessary steps to ensure that every single Parish in the country got a Council of the Noble Order.
Sir Kt. Amoako-Arhen indicated that Marshallans had various professional and technical expertise and urged the Clergy to employ their services when the need arose.
He pointed out that all Bishops were automatic Patrons of Councils of the Noble Order within their jurisdictions and appealed to Bishop Baawobr to visit the Councils in his Diocese from time to time.
The Supreme Knight later presented a copy of the brochure for the 90th Anniversary celebrations of Noble Order to the Bishop. Marshallan.org
