Children’s Hospital organizes Christmas Party
The Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra has organized a Christmas party for in patients and children from some selected Schools and Orphanages in Accra.
They were the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic School at Derby Avenue; Seventh Day Adventist Primary School; Street Girls Aid, Agbogbloshie; Tema SOS and Kressner Handmaids Orphanage, near Amasaman.
Over 200 children attended the Party jointly sponsored by the Royal Bank, Standard Charted Bank, Unicredit, Ecobank and some individuals.
Present at the ceremony were Mrs. Lordina Mahama, First Lady, and the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Madam Sun Baohong.
Dr. Eric Sifah, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital in a welcome address said, the party was organized yearly for children on admission, those at the Out Patient Department (OPD), from selected Schools in the Community and Children Homes.
He added that, the year had been a challenging one but with the support of the Almighty God, Benefactors and philanthropists, the authorities had done their best for the children, lamenting that lack of Doctors in the Hospital had affected the quality of care.
Dr. Sifah thanked Very Rev.Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD, Board Chairman of the Hospital and his team for their continuous support for the Hospital.
He also thanked the Benefactors, who provided the Hospital with a bore hole as well as others who had helped over the years and individuals who came to celebrate their birthdays with the children.
Fr. Campbell who chaired the ceremony, said the Christmas season appealed to families to have time for their children.
He congratulated Dr. Sifah and the Staff of the Hospital for their good works, urging them to continue caring for the children.
Fr. Campbell announced that the Hospital would mark its 90th anniversary in June this year with a vision of building an X- ray Unit, Pharmacy and Laboratories.
He appealed to Corporate and Private Organisations and individuals to support the Hospital in undertaking their projects.
Mrs. Mahama called on all to love and share during the Christmas Season, saying that the children’s party was one of the most special event on her annual calendar to be with children.
She thanked Fr. Campbell for his immense contribution to keep the children, the Staff and the benefactors of the Hospital, calling on the individuals and the Corporate Organisations to support the Hospital.
She urged the children to be respectful, obedient, disciplined and be humble, advising them to take their studies serious to contribute effectively to the nation building.
She donated food items worth GHȼ 5,000 to the Hospital.
Madam Sun Baohong said she would contribute her widow’s mite to improve Ghana’s relation with China by supporting the children in need.
She donated a set of Television, a washing machine and food items worth GHȼ 5,000.
Council 10 and Court 5 of the Noble Order of Knights and Ladies of Marshall, also donated food items to the children.
